Unravelling the Reay Golf Club Experience

At Reay Golf Club, we pride ourselves on presenting a genuine test of golfing skill, where players encounter real shot-making challenges, from punched long irons to delicate bump and run shots, all in the face of the typical Scottish winds. Our course layout, designed by the renowned golf course architect James Braid, sets Reay apart as the most northernly 18-hole links course on the British mainland.

The journey through Reay’s course is a remarkable adventure, starting with relatively straightforward holes that gradually give way to more challenging elements. The course features exceptional long par-5s and carry-only par-3s that alternate with strategic holes demanding precise ball placement and even some blind shots to well-guarded greens. By the end of your round, you’ll have tested every club in your bag and discovered shots you never knew you had.

The greens at Reay Golf Club are meticulously maintained, featuring large, oval shapes that beckon players to display their putting prowess. Complementing the greens are the fairways, composed of wiry links turf, encouraging the use of bump and run shots, perfectly suited for tackling the coastal winds that often define the Reay experience.

The Unparalleled Charm of Reay Golf Club

The journey to Reay Golf Club may require a bit of travel, but we assure you that the experience is worth every mile. Nestled in the picturesque and unspoiled beauty of the Scottish far north, Reay offers a classic links golfing encounter unlike any other. Bask in the legacy of James Braid’s finest work, expertly crafted amidst the classic seaside links and mysterious Highland glens of this captivating region.

The acclaim for Reay Golf Club is not just hearsay; it is proudly celebrated as the coolest links you’ve never played. Bunkered magazine, in their July 2020 feature, touted Reay as a hidden gem among the approximately 200 links golf courses in the UK. Being the most northerly 18-hole links course on the British mainland, Reay’s unique distinction adds to the allure of this exceptional golfing destination.

Moreover, the value you get at Reay is unparalleled. With affordable day tickets priced at only £50 from April to October and a bargain £30 per day from November to March, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value for links golf of this calibre anywhere else.

Unique

The Reay course spans 5854 yards and opens and closes with a par three – a unique feature that sets the tone for an exciting round.

challenging

The challenging 235-yard first hole is a true test for golfers who must carefully navigate any trouble on the right off the tee.

diverse

The subsequent seventeen holes are truly captivating, offering a diverse and captivating golfing experience.

strategic

The 581-yard par five 4th hole, aptly named “Sahara,” challenges players with a strategic approach to a protected green.

BEAUTIFUL

The 196 yard par 3 7th “Pilkington” is a beautiful short hole played across the Reay burn to a raised green some 190 yards away. The green is the same level as the teebut between them is a burn followed by a steep escarpment to the green- this gives the impression of closeness but do not be deceived, it is all carry and there is no relief for being short.

SATISFYING

The 18th hole, with its two-tiered green protected by greenside bunkers, provides a formidable and satisfying finishing challenge.

WELCOMING

Reay Golf Club boasts a modern clubhouse with picturesque views overlooking the entire course, where a warm welcome awaits all visitors.
